Protective Equipment

Mandatory Equipment required reminder.

Every student wishing to take part in sparring must have the following and to wear it at all times.

  • Head guard
  • Gum shield (or Poly-carbonate Face Shield attached to head guard)
  • Body guard
  • Forearm guards
  • Shin guards
  • Feet protectors
  • Groin guard

Accidents happen due to the nature of practicing martial arts. Wearing protective equipment minimises risk, but will not eliminate the risk completely.

Most people have the ‘full kit’ but there seems to be a unwritten rule that if the head guard is removed, that means no head kicks. You can agree with your partner no head kicks, but your head guard still stays on!

Students that have not got protective equipment must make every effort to get these as soon as possible to ensure that they are not held back. From this week the club is enforcing this rule.

Why the change? The change is not really a change, but we have not truly been enforcing the rules.

Some people ask ‘why we do not provide protective equipment?’ Mainly its like playing football without getting your own football boots. Also would you like to wear a sweat ridden head guard that’s been worn by 5 other people that night?

Please make sure that any equipment purchase that you make from other sources than the club is acceptable. All equipment must be WT approved.

Buying through the club helps the club, we make a small commission out of any purchase you make and you only pay the RRP anyway. This commission helps purchase new paddles and replace worn out equipment. Quest prides itself that we have plenty on new and quality equipment.

All equipment can be purchased through our web shop –
